Dr. Yıldırım Buharalıoğlu graduated from Ege University, Faculty of Pharmacy in 2009 with first rank and completed her master’s degree in Pharmacology. Then, she was awarded by PhD Scholarship Abroad from The Council of Higher Education of Turkey and did her PhD at University of Bristol (UK), School of Clinical Sciences in the field of Molecular Pharmacology under supervision of a world-class scientist Prof Andrew Newby. Her PhD thesis is mainly focussed on the epigenetic regulation during human macrophage differentiation and polarization. To date she has presented her work in prestigious meetings at University of Cambridge, Harvard Medical School and was awarded British Atherosclerosis Society Young Investigator Prize. At the moment she is working on epigenetic regulation mechanisms in prostate cancer as an independent young scientist and aiming to carry on her academic career in the field of cancer epigenetics.
