Compared properties of textures of lyotropic mesophases of binary and ternary systems based on tetra decyl trimethyl ammonium bromide

Özet

The region of lyotropic liquid phase formed in the TTAB + water + decanol ternary system are reported. There is one isotropic phase (isotropic L-1) and five anisotropic phases, namely nematic calamitic N-c, nematic discotic N-d, nematic biaxial N-bx, hexagonal E, lamellar D mesophases. The anisotropic phases were determined by polarized microscope. The textures of the present ternary system were discussed in comparison with the textures of the binary TTAB + water system and non-specific textures caused by mechanical deformations investigated.
