Özet

In this paper, performance analysis of two reinforced concrete buildings, one is consist of only moment-resisting frames, the other is consist of both moment-resisting frames and shear walls, with similar floor plan is completed and results are compared. In the analysis process, target displacement is calculated by the Displacement Coefficient and Capacity Spectrum methods and the results are evaluated. At the push over step where target displacement is calculated, plastic rotations of girders, columns and shear walls and relative displacements at story levels are determined. Calculated target displacement values are compared with national building codes and seismic performance of the buildings is determined according to earthquake having probability of exceedance of 10% in 50 years. Evaluations of results indicate that both systems have similar performance level for the design earthquake. Target displacements are increased by 6 % by replacing 21% of vertical load carrying columns with shear walls.
