Özet

A skull and associated mandible from the upper level of Kemiklitepe is one of the most complete known specimens of Machairodus. It is distinctly more derived than specimens from the lower level. Cladistic analysis of this genus does not allow recognition of well-defined clades, but suggests instead gradual acquisition of the cranial and dental specializations that characterise Homotherium.
