Özet

Abstract

Chia (Slavia hispanica L.) is one of the most important medicinal and aromatic

herbs that are commercially foregrounded in our country. Especially in recent

years, interest in healthy food caused by the rich contents of this plant to the

foreground. Small and lightweight with a chia seeds unfortunately; there are not

enough studies on basic characteristics. For this reason, some physical and

physiological features (shape, size, surface area, 1000 grain weight, germination

percentage and time) of chia seed were tried to be determined in the study. In

addition, film seeding of chia seeds has been applied to increase seed quality and

the effects on seed structure were examined. According to the results obtained; chia

seeds were found to have medium size and oval shape, and the weight of 1000

seeds was found to be 1.225 g It was determined that chia seeds germinated at 95%

after film coating application.
