A new species of darkling beetles Blaps petra sp. n. from Western Anatolia (Turkey) is described. The species belongs to the 14th group of the 2nd section by Seidlitz (1893) and it is most similar to B. jeannei Ferrer et L. Soldati, 1999 and B. ocreata Allard, 1880, which also have rasp-shaped punctation (not cuticular microgranules) of elytra. Blaps petra sp. n. differs from the both indicated species by an almost not expressed elytral mucron, not thickened simple metatibiae, bent mesotibiae, small flattened body, and a structure of male aedeagus. Blaps jeannei has wide, apically obtuse parameres, B. ocreata has very elongated, apically acute parameres, B. petra sp. n. has widened basal and sharply narrowed apically acute parameres. Eight males of the new species were collected at night (from 21.00 to 23.00) in Kınıkyeri (Denizli Province, Turkey) on vertical rocks.
