In this study, the prosthetic rehabilitation of patients with malignant tumors in the maxillofacial region, especially at an ethmoidomaxillary location, during the operative and postoperative period has been reviewed. The experience with and results of 127 patients operated on during the last 15 years are reported. Eighty-one patients were male and 46 female, with a mean age of 42 years. The surgical obturators which are inserted towards the end of the operation before wound closure are composed of suprastructure and infrastructure. The suprastructure is prepared with self-or heat-curing clear acrylic and the infrastructure with silicone impression material or silicon putty (Optosil).
