Özet

While the harmful health effects of carbonmonoxide, nicotine, tar, irritants and other noxious gases that are present in tobacco are well known, the effects due to some major and trace elements in Izmir type tobacco are not sufficiently emphasized. Tobacco and tobacco smoking influence the concentrations of several elements in some organs. The objective of this study was to investigate content of some major and trace elements in Aegean Region tobaccos grown in the district of Akhisar. In this research nine fields which are different in terms of the quality and efficiency in the villages called Haciosmanlar,Arabacibozkoy, Derekoy, Mecidiye and Suleymanli were selected. Calcium, potassium, magnesium, natrium, copper, iron and manganese contents of the tobacco were analyzed. The analyses showed that there were significant differences among the tobacco samples of different years and quality grades.
