Some of the intangible cultural heritage elements are not only belongs to one state, but it has been observed that they are shared between two or more states. Those shared elements demonstrate that the Convention for the Safeguarding of ICH is necessary for the humanity and it is important for collaborations between the countries, cultural rapprochement, working together and also respect each other. All states parties to the Convention for the Safeguarding of ICH want to be more active in registering more ICH elements of their own which may provide them and also to the registered ICH element more visibility within the world community. To provide visibility to each ICH element is one of the aims of the Convention and thus three lists for ICH elements were prepared. They are; "The Representative List of ICH", "The Urgent Safeguarding List of ICH" and "The Best Practicing List of ICH". It should also be pointed that the state parties to the convention have been fallen a kind of competition on registering more ICH elements to one of those three lists. As being one of the successful state parties of the convention, Turkey has itself prepared and registered number of ICH elements, and also registered number of shared ICH element in collaboration with other state parties. The "Operational Guideline" of the Convention for the Safeguarding of ICH provides information on the necessity, preparation and submission to "Multinational Files". According to the Guideline; when an ICH element is observed in more than a state party, instead of each state party to submit a separate file for registration of such ICH element to lists, it is preferred them to prepare and submit a multinational file for Representative List or Urgent Safeguarding List of the Convention. The registered multinational files will be excluded from the allocation of the state parties. The reason for encouraging for submitting multinational files on shared ICH is considered as one of main foundation of the convention. In this article, first I will provide information on the ICH elements Turkey has prepared submitted and registered multinational files, and also the ongoing prepared and submitted files. The second, I will discuss the reason for selecting, preparing and submitting multinational files for those ICH elements, and also the difficulties and problems of preparing such files. Third, I will evaluate the problems of collaborating with neighboring countries and as well as the Turkic speaking countries. My final remarks will be on the criticism of the Convention for the Safeguarding of ICH from the point of multinational files.
