Prof. Dr. Gertrude Durusoy (1943-2017) received numerous awards with her works on translation, science and culture and worked like a voluntary cultural ambassador life long in order to promote dialogue between cultures. She has many translations and numerous scholarly works on translation. This paper examines how she reinvented the concept of translation through her academic works. The aim of this study is to outline her thoughts on equivalence, the role of translators in the translation process and to focus on the determining factors behind the target text in the frame of her works. The study is based on a document analysis as form of qualitative research and the data will be examined with a descriptive and interpretative approach.
