Abstract

After defining pineal glad, discovery of melatonin, which is secreted by pineal gland, was begun. It has so small proportion to the body however it is the second organ that mostly filled with blood. Generally, secretion of melatonin is at the peak value when the time is between 02:00 am and 04:00 am. Beside that, the secretion of melatonin depends on differentia of seasons.

Being exposed to the light will depress the secretion of melatonin. The light dose that depresses secretion melatonin at night is 2500 lux. Rhythm of melatonin on human beings begins with 6-8th. weeks of their life; reaches to the peak level at 3-5 years old and keeps being at the peak level for 35-40 years. Melatonin plays important roles on regulating cardio vascular functions, antioxidation and immune systems, sleep, thermo regulation and biological time. Disorder of those functions can raise the risk of having cancer, autoimmune psychiatric diseases and infection rates by preparing a flat to many diseases. Information about melatonin related to exercises is increasing everyday. A research stated that consolidation of melatonin before forced exercise decreased the muscle damage rate by decreasing the oxidative stress and inflammation effects. There had been also stated that melatonin has a protective functionality on cardio- tissue damage, which is caused by acute exercises. Increasing of evidences showed that exercises have acute and long term effects on secretion of melatonin. However, there are limited researches about the effects of night and daytime exercises on secretion of melatonin. The information about verifying the importance melatonin on adaptation of body to the stress, which is caused by exercises, is increasing in recent years.
