Abstract

Background: Physiological changes and immunological modifications occur during pregnancy. The clinical and biological features of periodontal infections are affected by pregnancy. The aim of the present study was to evaluate saliva levels of 25-hydroxy-vitamin D3 (25(OH)D3), prostaglandin E2 (PGE(2)) and TNF-alpha (TNF-alpha) in pregnancy, postpartum and non-pregnant controls.
